The Queen Mary Building’s central location makes visiting Sydney’s attractions easy! Here are some of our top recommended attractions for those new to the city.
Newtown’s eclectic King Street is the place to be if you’re looking for cheap eats, independent boutiques and vintage wares. Instead of chain stores, you’ll find emerging designers, retro finds, specialist shops and weekend markets in a vibrant precinct that’s a step away from the mainstream. Just a 10-minute walk from the Queen Mary Building, King Street offers a shopping paradise that is as much about the experience as it is about the products themselves.
Broadway Shopping Centre
Broadway Shopping Centre is located 10-minutes away, through the University and the beautiful Victoria Park. Featuring supermarkets, a 500-seat food court, a cinema and over 100 fashion, sporting and electronics retailers, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Just past Broadway down Glebe Point Road lies one of Sydney’s most well known Saturday markets. Find yourself an indie treasure, pick up some recycled fashion or sample gourmet foods to the tunes of a live band in the background. It’s a great place to lose yourself for a day!
Leichhardt is a 15-minute bus ride from the Queen Mary Building and is the home of Sydney’s Italian culture. On Norton Street, you’ll find a selection of restaurants boasting some of Sydney’s best handmade pastas, gelatos, coffees and cakes. This is the place to be if you love all things Italian!
The Rocks is located at the far end of the Sydney CBD, easily accessible by bus and train. From one location, you can catch a view of two of Sydney’s most iconic attractions, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. On the weekends, walk the cobblestone streets and browse a range of crafty treasures at The Rocks Markets. Explore the art galleries, take in a show at the dance theatre, do a bike tour or visit the locale’s many restaurants and bars. There’s something there for everyone.
Sydney has a range of public transport options, including buses, trains and cabs, that make getting from Point A to Point B easy. The Queen Mary Building is just a few minutes walk from the bus stops on City Road and Parramatta Road. Both are important Sydney thoroughfares, which makes getting to all of Sydney’s attractions simple!
