How long are the residential agreements?
The Queen Mary Building opens to residents on 20 July 2015, with contracts running until 31 December 2015.
From 2016, the residence will run on a 52-week residential agreement. This allows residents constant access to rooms and facilities mid year and throughout the summer period. It means you don’t have to spend time and money moving and is especially convenient if you want to stay in the same room next year (subject to you reapplying during the reapplication period and the Queen Mary Building offering you a room).
If you choose to go away for the summer holiday, you can put your room in the letting pool and we’ll endeavour to secure you a fee rebate by renting it to conference guests and other visitors. The rebate will be a portion of your residential fee, depending on the occupancy of all available rooms during the summer period.
Is catering available?
The Queen Mary Building is self-catered, with a kitchenette on each floor and a communal kitchen available to all residents. If you aren’t too confident with your cooking skills, don’t worry –we’ll be running regular cooking classes throughout the year so you’ll be a master chef in no time!
